Nestle E2E KitKat Design Specialist in York, United Kingdom

Business: Nestlé Product Technology Centre – Confectionery (NPTC)

Location: York, North Yorkshire – 3 to 4 days in the office per week

Position Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for an E2E Design Specialist to join our world-famous KitKat team at our R&D Centre in York. Working collaboratively with a talented group of people globally on our number 1 confectionery brand, you’ll be a motivated and collaborative individual who will support all elements of design and apply this to drive and create innovation pipelines.

NPTC Confectionery York is Nestlé’s leading centre for confectionery Research & Development, working in partnership with 3 development centres in Chile, China and Ivory Coast. In York we are a team of 170 amazing people from over 30 nationalities. Our aim is to lead the way in how confectionery products are developed, manufactured and packaged. It’s a place where creativity and practicality meet to turn fantastic concepts into exceptional industrialised products our consumers will love.

A day in the life of an E2E KitKat Design Specialist…

  • Bring ideas to life with stunning product and packaging visualisation via digital mock-ups and images.

  • Get hands on with prototyping (print media, mould design and prototyping, laser cutting, 3-D printing and packaging).

  • Design and deliver outstanding presentations, content, videos and infographics.

  • Support in translating consumer insight into ideas and concepts and creative facilitation in workshops as and if required.

  • Be a great team player in cross functional projects whilst being able to lead and manage multiple priorities at once with high levels of ambiguity.

  • Play a key role in knowledge enhancements and developments in the product and packaging design field and be passionate about design trends including how AI can support in the design process.

  • Provide coaching if needed to the wider team, helping them to develop their design expertise.

What will make you successful?

You’ll have a real passion for design and innovation and be able to demonstrate your experience in this space through a strong portfolio and track record in the creative industry. You will have a degree in Graphic or Industrial /Product design or another design discipline or you might have developed your expertise on the job.

You will be able to take complex business challenges and consumer insights to develop design outputs that answer a business needed. This could be the creation of prototypes (product, packaging etc) and photo realistic key visuals, using Adobe CC (Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign), 3D mould design and development, Keyshot, 3D CAD (Fusion 360 preferred). Acting as a true ambassador for the KitKat brand you will be able to showcase your enthusiasm, creative problem solving mindset and results driven approach to get things done. It would be beneficial if you have experience in a similar role within FMCG or external design agency. You’ll also:

  • Be a great collaborator with good communication skills, we’re looking for you to be effective when sharing knowledge as well as building effective relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Have great problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with ambiguous and complex activities.

  • Have an appetite for learning.
