The Maintenance Work Group provides specialized maintenance support in a high volume, light manufacturing environment. Responsibilities are across lines and include specialized technical support specific for the rebuild program with an emphasis on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

The primary role of the MWG is to help build the skill of the team members by providing technical support and guidance. The MWG is someone who knows the equipment very well and understands and behaves according to TPM principles and the pursuit of Zero Losses and ideal condition.

Major tasks

  • Participate to learn the AM / PM methodology, “learn by doing”

  • Confirm that activities are done in a safe manner

  • Help AWG’s understand equipment principles of operation, key components, and loss areas

  • Help define equipment ideal condition, based on engineering design and vendor information

  • Provide guidance on establishing visual control standards

  • Answer technical questions and activities to transfer using OPL’s

  • Provide interface to vendors and technical community, when needed

  • Confirm defects identified and their repairs – tag negotiation

  • Complete repairs that are beyond the skills of the AWG

  • Communicate existing plant technical standards

  • Document equipment improvements for future reapplication to other areas

  • Operation support, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing of assigned equipment group/area (e.g. fillers) and other areas as needed

  • Drive execution and planning of planned maintenance work load

  • Be familiar to operate all equipment to include normal running parameters, set points, etc according to Best Practices

  • Planned work order execution including special projects, rebuild and installation

  • Strong mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and power transmission troubleshooting

  • Intermediate electrical troubleshooting

  • Assist during changeovers to include focus on project work installation and work order execution

  • Complete welding and fabrication projects (to include full process from design to installation)

  • Work with vendors as needed for startup, improvement and modification of equipment. Serve as a technical equipment/area specialist for assigned function in the plant

  • Support major overhauls, annual maintenance and installation projects

  • Utilize and adhere to maintenance systems and tools

  • Read manufacturing instructions, manuals and technical schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic)

  • Utilize process improvement techniques, tools and procedures

  • Train mechanics and operators on equipment and Best Practices

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an industrialized environment and in a technical position; and/or equivalent combination of experience/education

  • Strong Engineering & Technical skills including Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic skills.

  • Sound problem solving skills

  • Effective Communication

  • CMMS or comparable maintenance system experience

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement methods

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft office)

  • Must pass Ramsey Mechanical assessment
