Shape the digital experience for Nespresso's ecommerce platform across web channels leading a talented team of UX/UI Designers, Product Designers and UX Researchers dedicated to delivering seamless and user-centric digital solutions, ensuring the implementation of design best practices across 50+ markets, maintaining brand consistency, driving innovation, and coordinating resources across multiple product-specific squads (and our newly formed DesignOps Squad), driving and supporting +200 content contributors & key external global providers to optimize customer journeys for more than 100M visits yearly worldwide.

The primary responsibility of the Web Digital Products Design Lead is to play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experience for our company's ecommerce platform across web channels, leading and inspiring a team dedicated to delivering seamless and user-centric digital solutions, diving digital innovation through UX and UI, collaborating with cross-functional squads and project teams, enforcing design best practices from conception to implementation, maintaining brand consistency, managing recruiting, project and capacity planning, vendor relationships and budgetary aspects to achieve business goals in the global eCommerce landscape.

Main Purpose of the Job - Web Digital Products Design Lead:

  1. Lead and Inspire Design Team: Provide leadership and inspiration to a team of UX/UI Designers, Product Designers, and UX Researchers.

  2. Collaborate on Design Strategies: Work closely with the Global Digital Innovation and Experience Manager, other peer Leads and other Line Managers across the organization to align design strategies with overall business objectives.

  3. Team Management and Resource Planning: Plan and forecast team capacity and projects aligned with business priorities and OKRs. Oversee day-to-day activities, conduct regular performance reviews, and lead the hiring process for the design team.

  4. Budget and Contract Management: Support procurement processes for design-related resources. Oversee contracts and engagements with external agencies, ensuring compliance and effective collaboration.

  5. Project Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional squads and project teams to align design with business goals and user needs. Act as a liaison between design teams and other departments, fostering effective communication.

  6. Drive Design Excellence and Innovation: Drive the creation of innovative and user-friendly designs for the company's ecommerce platform. Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring design decisions align with the brand identity.

  7. Design Systems and Prototyping: Collaborate with the DesignOps Squad to create and integrate Design Systems across relevant web solutions. Create digital workflows, layouts, and prototypes.

  8. User Research and Persona Development: Understand customers through various research methods. Guide the team in conducting user research and refining user personas.

  9. Encourage Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies. Encourage a culture of innovation, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making within the team.

  10. Operational Efficiency and Agility: Apply agile principles for efficient design processes and continuous improvement. Integrate Lean Product Management principles into design processes for improved operational efficiency.

Key Requirements;

  • Proven leadership experience in developing a vision, defining strategy, and building programs/features from the ground up.

  • Ability to influence across multiple company organizations with strong communication and analytical skills.

  • Track record of delivering customer-facing, web-based products at a global scale.

  • Experience in the luxury brand sector, preferably within the coffee/beverages industry.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in navigating omnichannel environments.

  • Strong experience with design systems and operational efficiency in design processes.

  • Extensive understanding of prototyping methodologies, user research, and A/B test planning/execution.

  • Dynamic, creative personality with a passion for design and continuous improvement.

  • Well-rounded portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of design objectives and problem-solving skills.

  • Leverage design tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, User Testing and Miro for collaborative design processes.

  • Utilize project management tools, including Jira and Confluence, to streamline workflows and enhance team communication.

  • Incorporate user behavior analytics through Glassbox and Google Analytics to inform data-driven design decisions.

  • 8+ years of experience in all phases of the design process, including user research, prototyping, visual design, and usability testing.

  • Familiarity with agile principles, Lean Product Management, and experience with Scrum, Lean, and Kanban in design-oriented environments.

  • Good understanding of HTML5 and CSS.

  • Creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense.

  • Confidence & structure, to present and explain ideas to external audiences.
