Position Summary

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our Category Technical Application Group (CTAG) as a Product & Process Specialist working at our confectionery site in Halifax. In the role you will work closely with Factory & Engineering teams to develop and optimise products and processes.

Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

The Halifax CTAG is part of the Zone Europe Central Application Group organisation, and you will have the possibility to have contact with colleagues from other factories across Europe.

A day in the life of a Product & Process Specialist

As always in the exciting world of Product development no two days are the same, but the key aspects of the role are as follows

• Develop and introduce new products and processes to the factory, while taking into consideration compliance with Nestle and external standards and policies.

• Support technology and know-how transfer to the factory

• Working to Nestle Standards & understanding the end-to-end impact of our ingredients and recipes.

• Support the factory and marketing teams on projects and initiatives related to products, processes and technologies.

• Contribute to and manage projects related to product & process improvements within his/her area of expertise

• Manage factory specific product administration for example approval of materials and writing recipes.

What will make you successful?

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with previous experience with Food & Beverage products, processes and commissioning. The role requires an ability to work closely with colleagues across various teams in the Halifax Factory and the wider business.

You’ll have a ‘hands on’ style, working with multiple teams from a technical perspective looking to build working standards and procedures. You will likely come from a technical, engineering, or equivalent manufacturing background and also have demonstrable skills in continuous improvement techniques and tools.

Key skills also include:

• Fundamental understanding of the science and engineering associated with ingredients, products and processes.

• Preferably a relevant academic qualification or equivalent experience (Degree in Food Science / Chemical/ Process / Industrial Engineering)

• Detailed understanding of ingredient & recipe functionality, food manufacturing processes Safety, Quality and Compliance requirements

• Working knowledge of product and packaging development processes

• Previous experience managing projects
