DESCRIPTION: The Microbiologist will perform all required microbiological testing at the factory. They will work closely with Operations, Warehouse and other site personnel to sample and assess product for additional testing. They will assist in the work of other QA personnel as required, and will work with GMP/HACCP systems on a frequent basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

· Managing all micro documentation

· Maintain micro programs in an audit ready state

· Trouble shoot, track and trend micro data.

· Collect all micro samples for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual samples for inside and outside lab testing

· Collect finished product samples for IC water chemistry analysis

· Training all new QC/Microbiologist as needed

· QC of lab equipment as needed

· Calibration of all microbiology laboratory equipment

· Test and troubleshoot Consumer Complaints as needed

· Participate in training

· Participate in all required Microbiology Proficiency Testing programs

· Maintain data for line health program

· Special Projects as needed

· Inventory of Micro Lab

· Perform self audits of the lab, including CIP Gap assessments, and hygiene audits

· Continuous improvement

· Play an active

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Microbiology

  • 1 – 2 year experience with COLILERT method

  • 1 – 2 year experience in analytical water testing

  • Prior experience as a Microbiologist in a lab environment.

  • Experienced in standard analytical methods for microbiology, troubleshooting microbiological issues and experience with pathogens, molds and spoilage microorganisms desired.

  • Prior experience performing internal quality audits and maintaining micro programs in an audit ready state

  • Understanding of microbiological testing and operation of related lab equipment

  • Ability to track and trend micro data and testing results

  • Knowledge of EPA and FDA regulations desired

  • Computer proficiency in standard Microsoft Office Software

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift at least 50 lbs

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach other team members
