POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Driver Partner is the link between frozen warehouse shipments and the Direct to Store Delivery route truck Drivers. The Driver Partner works a flexible schedule (Often between 2 nd and 3 rd shift hours), which is required in order to assist the Driver with the daily inbound shipments. Once a shipment is received, the Driver Partner checks order manifests and distributes the correct orders onto the associated Drivers’ route trucks in time for the Drivers to depart for delivery. In this position, one must be able to work alone at times, prioritize orders, have high integrity and be safety focused while ensuring product integrity and quality standards are maintained.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment such as butnot limited to a forklift, walk-behind electric power jack, andwalk-behind stacker while loading. Complete and maintain daily inspectionson all equipment.

  • Plan work schedule around the arrival of daily inboundshipments.

  • Maintain communication with the direct Manager andDrivers on all supply needs, issues, and questions. Report any and allfacility, truck, product, or equipment damage to the direct Managerimmediately.

  • Adapt quickly to daily changes such as late shipments andspecial loading requests.

  • Adhere to monthly documentation submission requirementsand attend Bi-Weekly safety conference calls.

  • Operate Automatic and Standard transmission commercialstraight trucks and tractor trailers (Semis).

  • Conduct activities in a safe manner, followcorporate safety guidelines and requirements, use personal protectiveequipment and proactively address any unsafe conditions observed. Maintain housekeeping and safety compliance (Inspectionready at all times). Adhere to all work related procedures, policies, andbest practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent.

  • Must have reliable transportation to and fromwork.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Successful completion of post offer backgroundchecks, drug screen and motor vehicle report

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedulewhich may include unstable and unpredictable hours; Willing to work any day ofthe week, weekends and Holidays.

  • Must possess basic math and documentation, and computerskills.

  • Ability to work safely in a dynamically changingenvironment

  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English

  • Electric pallet jack experience preferred

  • Ability to operate and back in commercialstraight trucks and tractor trailers (Semis) is preferred.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

  • Hands/Arms: Constantly, using both hands/armsthroughout the work shift while loading/unloading product from shuttle trailersto route trucks, using powered industrial equipment or manual pump jacks. Flexionand extension of the wrists while performing occasional visual inspections andrepalletizing.

  • Head/Neck: Frequently, moving head and neckwhile moving product onto route trucks.

  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally, lifting/carrying10-40 pounds to reposition product on pallet or move/stack empty pallets.

  • Pushing/Pulling: Occasionally, using both hands/armswhile moving product via manual pallets jacks/carts exerting a force between15-50 pounds.

  • Bending/Twisting: Occasionally, bending at waist30-45 degrees while shrink wrapping or loading/unloading pallets on off truck. Bendingand twisting of the upper torso and squatting when visually inspecting thepallet jacks/carts and placing pallet jack on the floor.

  • Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally, while addressingboxes of supplies at floor level, shrink wrapping and while performing clean uptasks.

  • Standing/Walking: Frequently, while performing mostduties in the loading dock, walking up to eight hours per shift on concretesurface.

  • Balance: Wet and icy conditions in loading dock,parking lot, route trucks, and trailers.

  • Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required toensure safe operation in the loading dock and perform essential functions.

WORKINGCONDITIONS:

  • Hazards: Slipperysurfaces; uneven work surfaces, wet and icy, exposure to cold, cuts andpinch points, and moving equipment.

  • Equipment Used: Commercialvehicles, hand trucks, carts and dollies. Pallet jacks (manual andpowered), forklifts, dock plates, bulkheads, straps, lift gates, and otherpallet handling equipment are to be used only if properly trained and withmanager authorization.

  • Safety Equipment: Punctureand cut resistant gloves, high visibility vest, and high ankle support,steel toed or composite safety boots are required during all loadingactivities. Face shield, acid apron, and acid gloves are required ifrefilling a battery. If a knife is needed, it is required to be aself-retracting safety cutter.
