What to Expect:

The Assistant Category Development Manager assists the Senior Category Development Managers in driving the category and shaping segment and brand strategy by channel through the integration of marketing and sales strategies to commercialize generating demand initiatives.

A day in the life:

  • Assist the Senior Category Development Managers in partnering with marketing and sales teams to contribute to shaping segment and brand strategy by channel for the category

  • Assist the Senior Category Development Managers in the development of segment and brand 4P strategies by channel aligned to shopper drivers, with a focus on pricing, promotion, and channel portfolio optimization.

  • Assist the Senior Category Development Managers in the commercialization of brand plans and new item presentations by contributing to the development of Category selling stories/Shopper Drivers for internal and external customer engagement.

  • Leverage market trends, extracting, interpreting and simplifying NielsenIQ Discover & Numerator data to identify key data insights for the Category Development Team to help shape business plans.

  • Monitor portfolio in-market performance vs targets, assisting in identifying gaps and working cross-functionally on gap close solutions

  • Lead in the analytics, development and maintenance of scorecards for key strategies as they move into execution

  • Track and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) – i.e. New item distribution & performance post evaluations, Pricing, & Promotion

  • Support the Category Development team in advancing the development and deployment of key initiatives with analytics and project management

  • Manage communication through the internal website, publishing key team communications and sales materials on time and in full, and maintain all trade-related assets on the site.

  • Manage the New Item Sales Sample process and quantities with the sales and marketing teams for all innovation

Role Requirements

  • Completion of a University degree in Business Administration with a focus on sales and marketing

  • 1+ years of experience in Marketing, Sales, Trade Marketing or Channel Management

  • Proficient user of Nielsen Data, both POS and Panel data, with the ability to create customized data pulls from the database to identify relevant insights and craft compelling presentations

  • Proficiency to work with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with using and extracting data from multiple sources such as Numerator, Kantar, etc. to derive insights

  • Excellent project management skills and facilitation abilities

  • Proactive and collaborative team player, able to build relationships and work cross-functionally

  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment
