Position Summary

Our 1L Scholars Legal Internship is a paid, full time summer program offered in partnership with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity & the law firm of Perkins Coie. This program provides first year law students the opportunity to intern with the in-house legal team for our Nestlé Coffee Partners group in Seattle. Interns will work with the Nestlé Legal team in areas such as intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, employment, advertising, food law & general legal matters. In–house lawyers will mentor interns with feedback to gain a better understanding of the unique role of an in-house law department at the world’s largest food company. Through our partnership with Perkins Coie, interns will spend 6 weeks at Perkins Coie’s Seattle office handling work for Perkins Coie clients and participating in their summer program trainings & events. During this time, interns work directly with associates & partners to gain experience and insights from working at one of America’s premier law firms.

Project Examples

As an intern, you will gain exposure to senior legal leadership & develop your network.

  • Reviewing and drafting commercial contracts

  • Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, checklists and guidelines in a variety of practice areas including employment & environmental law

  • Preparing cease and desist letters for commercial and intellectual property disputes

  • Investigating and managing potential trademark infringement matters

  • Research current trends in food law

  • Digital and social media matters

  • This internship is limited to first year law students

  • Willing to work in Seattle, WA for 10-12 consecutive weeks in summer 2022

  • 3.0 or above cumulative GPA
