Climate and Sustainability Expert - Pet Care, Food & Beverage

As the Climate and Sustainability Expert, you’ll be responsible for the North America Zone-wide coordination and analysis of sustainability data driving our Net Zero targets, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions goalsetting, roadmap development and monitoring, and review of plans and projects under scientifically established standards. This position will utilize internal and external data sources to drive insights for food, beverage, and pet care business investments and operational/value-chain transformation. You will interact significantly with Strategic Business Units, Group, Zone, and market sustainability resources that contribute to, and help drive, the climate strategy. This role will work closely with Nestle Zone North America food, beverage and pet care climate leaders to drive results across Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions reductions, and will report through Nestle Purina PetCare Company.

We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic-minded, self-starting individual with both technical and managerial competence to contribute in the following areas:

  • Manage GHG reduction roadmap across Zone North America, including emissions factor tracking and refinement, verification of GHG reductions, and scenario planning across food, beverage, and pet care categories

  • Monitor compliance, report progress to Nestlé global climate targets, and support audits

  • Actively engage with, and provide assistance, including educational and competency development, to internal technical teams to drive Nestlé’s Net Zero Roadmap and other climate initiatives

  • Support sustainability leaders on GHG and environmental impact analysis to generate risk-based assessments, insights, and narratives to support climate strategy development

  • Stay up to date on current and emerging policy and regulatory drivers of GHG emissions disclosure, environmental reporting requirements, and management in North America

  • Manage Nestlé’s global sustainability data strategy and ensure alignment across all related systems to support measurement of KPI's while ensuring quality and accuracy of all data

  • Manage the collection and organization of GHG data from internal and external partners while providing ongoing support to address questions and/or resolve discrepancies

  • Develop, align, share-out, and implement processes and procedures related to GHG accounting, record-keeping, and related governance

  • Serve as the go-to person for GHG global and internal accounting rules within the Zone

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • 5+ years of professional experience with 2+ years of those years in sustainability, carbon accounting, evaluating, and implementing GHG goals, and/or relevant experience

Other

  • Master’s Degree is preferred

  • Degree focused on Sustainability Management, Environmental Science, Data Management, or a related subject field is preferred

  • 1+ years of experience analyzing raw ingredient materials and value-chain/Scope 3 GHG emissions, including knowledge of LCA software is preferred

  • Strong understanding of food and agriculture value chains is preferred

Approximate pay range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
